Edinburgh Day 2

Today we started out the day at the Greyfriar's Churchyard Cemetery and Greyfriar's Bobby. Then went to the Holyrood Palace and finished up the day at Edinburgh Castle. After our touring about we went to dinner at the home of Jim and Marion Porteus.  Yummy steak pie, mashed taters and neeps and taties (turnips and carrots). It was delicious!

Waiting for our Bacon roll sandwich for breakfast from Auld Jock's.

An interesting headstone at the cemetery.  We are doing the City of the Dead Tour here tomorrow night... More to come if we survive it.

Mom and Crissy at the Greyfriar's Bobby Statue.

Holyrood Palace.  The Royal residence in Scotland.  Princess Anne was in residence today...but we didn't see her.  Beautiful Palace, but no pictures allowed inside.

The new on duty guard for Princess Anne .

The Abbey ruins at Holyrood.

Headmaster Downs offering assistance to the Aide and the Bus Driver to help contain a wee lad named Rabbie!

Crissy's dream house...I wonder if the Royal Family will notice if Dave and I moved in.

Walking up to Edinburgh Castle.  It sits atop a huge extinct volcano.  Very daunting to view from below. It was almost like a small city inside the castle walls, including living quarters, armory, chapel, towers...absolutely amazing!

Mom at the giant portcullis gate.

Dad next to a cannon, similar to the picture from his mission.  Shortly after this picture, we were standing at the edge of the castle wall and a giant gust of wind blew his hat off his head and down into Prince's street Gardens...approximately 400 feet down...never to be found again.  We'll maybe Hamish the Prince's Street Garden groundskeeper might be wearing a Smithfield City Fire Department hat soon.

St. Margaret's Chapel inside the castle. Dad is hiding the Scottish Crown Jewels he took from the tower room.

After dinner with Jim and Marion in Bonnyrigg.
