D-Day (aka Crissy Starts Driving Day)

We made it!!!  After a couple wrong turns and one dad heart attack (I think he went something like this...πŸ˜±πŸ˜¬πŸ˜πŸ˜°πŸ˜±πŸ˜πŸ˜±πŸ˜©πŸ˜πŸ˜±πŸ˜“ followed by a s#&!%) and we were out of Edinburgh and on our way to the highlands.
We stopped at Linlithgow Palace located on Linlithgow Loch.  It was a beautiful palace and was so much fun...they let you pretty much run loose in the palace and explore how you wanted.  I took full advantage and climbed the spiral staircases in all four corners of the palace. I have to preface the following story by reminding everyone that I went on an underground ghost tour last night so I had ghosties on the brain. I was exploring the towers on my own and as I was almost at the top of one of the towers I spooked a huge bird and it came flying at me.  Needless to say it scared the bajeebies out of me.  I gave a whoop, which echoed throughout the palace and peed a wee bit in my pants....this was followed by some giggling to myself.  I do believe some of the other tourists thought a senile ghost was running amok in the palace.
We then headed across forth road bridge and were soon in the highlands.  Absolutely Breathtaking!!!  What a beautiful ruggedness. We arrived at the Highland Club (the converted Abbey) where we will be staying for the next 9 nights. The Abbey and the grounds are so cool and Loch Ness is amazing.

Mom and Dad at the Palace entrance.

View of the loch from the palace.

A prisoner that was locked up.  We were unsure of her sanity so we let her be.

One of the four spiral staircases.  They went up about 7 stories in each of the four corners of the palace. I felt like a princess going up to the towers!

Playing in the giant fireplace of the banquet hall.

My princess door.

Our first picture of the Highlands.  Isn't it so pretty??

The Highland Club entrance.

The cloister garden here at the Highland Club.

A walkway here on the grounds.  There is also a small forest that we can explore that runs along the banks of Loch Ness.  So excited to go on adventures around the area.

The first lock coming out of Loch Ness. Night boat on the right is the boat we will be taking on our Loch Ness tour.

A boat and some swans on the banks of the lock.
